HISTORY OF LOŠKI POTOK

Loški Potok was first mentioned only in 1666, when it, as the branch of Cerknica and later Bloke, became vicariate. It has always been one of the loneliest and poorest neighbourhoods in Slovenia. The municipality is one of the demographically endangered areas, as it is one of the least populated areas in Slovenia. The population density is 16 inhabitants per km². Today, Loški Potok has about 2,100 inhabitants.

For a century and a half, the majority of the population sought income abroad - in America and in Croatian forests - these were called CROATS. The tradition of "Croats" created a kind of man who went abroad to spend the winter. Later, these people were masterfully described by the writer Zofka Kveder in her work "Croats". There were 9 to 11 carpenters in the group, among whom the most prominent was the cashier.
